You only need two connectors to read and clear codes. a u-shaped bit of paper clip between the black and pink (IIRC) wires works fine for me.

Sounds like my highly modified paper clip.
Modify the round to flat with a hammer.

When my Friend come back to my place with is 2007 ST , I have to remember to take off that Cap from is plug and try it on my 2003 ST diagnostic plug to see if it fits .

I also will have to take a verry close look at that Cap , to see if it is built in two pieces because it is hard to see the detail of the Cap online ( ref. no 23 )On the online ST wire harness a close look on the plug make me beleive that there is a part already attached to the diagnostic Plug .Then , they would only sell the Cap alone . . .
Friday evening I did an Whelen LIN3 install for my Friend's ST,so I had chance to take the 2007 ST protective Cap off and I have tried it on my 2003 St diagnostic plug .
It fit perfectly but, that Cap is made out of TWO Pieces that I was able to separate .The inner part of the Cap is an adaptor to fit and attach to the Diagnostic plug and the Cap (with the rubber seal) attach to this adaptor .

I think that the only way to really know if we get the two Pieces ,when ordered . . . ( 32606-GEV-161 ) is to order it somewhere

OK ,here is the follow up on this . . . since it was the only way to really know if we get the two Pieces or only one , I did order the dummy cap 32606-GEV-161 at my local Dealer last week .

A bag containing the assembly of the two Pieces came in Yesterday and it is a perfect snug fit on the diagnostic plug on my 2003 .

It is still a mystery is why and how many 2003 ST did not get that cap

Daniel

I have the ST1300 03/ST1300A 03 Parts Catalog/Microfiche.
It does not show nor list the cap.
I also have the same for the 07 and it both shows and lists the cap.

Also could buy the mating connector and pins and make your own cap/diagnostic connector (if you put a switch in-line). Check Eastern Beaver. I'd guess its one of the Sumitomos on this page.

Ciao,

It seems to be a odd one-off size.
I have tried about every connector I run across from about every manufacture and none fit. Even the pins are a strange size.
I suspect this fit a test computer at or near the end of the production line. It does a quick scan of the ECU and all the sensors.
If everything is good they box it up and ship it out.

Yes . . . it have to be something like that .And they probably used an "odd one-off size" for that specific new type of test computer .

According to my different search on line ,on this particular type of diagnostic plug, it seem to have first appeared in 2002 in some place and in 2003 for the North America but the cap itself ,only started to appear as a valid part number in 2004.
