Default New owner in atlanta

Just purchased an '05 yesterday and have only been able to ride it a couple of times around the neighborhood. It's been 20 years since I've ridden, but I can tell I'm going to love this bike. I've ordered new helmets for the wife and I as well as a givi V46 truck with brake lights and backrest. Considering an advanced riding class to get more familiar with the bike. Looking forward to learning from the group here.

That is a very good looking motorcycle. How many miles? Are those BT020 tires? I wonder how long those have been on the bike.

I see it has a Sargent seat and the hiway pegs in the tip-over wings.

I always loved the Burgundy of the '05 best of all the STs.

Oh my gosh, that red is so nice. Every time I see it, I wish my 03 was red. Nice pictures.
You and your wife have tons of fun this summer!

Can't recall the brand, but the tires have less than 500 miles on them.

I am certain that the front is a Bridgestone BT-020. I know those were the tires that came as original equipment on most of the ST1300s sold here.

My concern would not be the number of miles.

I would be worried about the number of years. There is a date code on the sidewall.

I actually liked those tires back in the day. I like the Michelins better but I got decent results from those Bridgestones.

Nothing but misery from every Bridgestone tire I had afterwards...

Do you mean the BT-020? Yes sir, I know that.

If I recall one of our younger members, OldWingit still runs those tires exclusively.

Welcome to the forum Bryan. You have now a superb bike that you won't get tired of riding for years. Being new to the ST, I would recommend to be careful with maneuvers at parking lot speed as it is somewhat top heavy. I think this is the only handicap of the ST.

Shoot! just made a long post but it was gone when I tried to post it. Anyway, yes I have put about 15 sets of 020F's on my '03 and never had a single problem with them. Did try a Michelin rear once, but can't say it was any better, just cost more. I don't know how you can compare two premium tires without back to back on a race track. My back road riding only gets about 5,500/ 6000 miles. to wear bars. At 82 I hope to have a couple years riding left.
