Default Re: Battery for an 02 ST-1300

I got eight years from my OEM battery on my new '91 ST11, and seven years on my new '03 ST13. (black wheels, Paul) Have never owned a battery tender. Two thoughts, the electrics on both bikes was left bone stock and as I hate ridding in real hot weather I have done very little of it.

That's not the easiest battery cover to remove but I "got'er done." It's a Yuasa YTZ14S with the letters MF underneath the model no. The electrics are bone stock but, I rode it in central California heat for 5 years before moving to N. Idaho. The bike was originally purchased in 2007 as a 2 year holdover. I have to assume the battery was activated at that time. I bought it with 2900 miles on the clock. I already owned the Battery Tender from the previous bike. I started using the Tender immediately as I couldn't (wouldn't) ride it in San Joaquin Valley fog. Don't know if any of you have experienced that but HOO BOY! Less visibility than ANY blizzard I ever saw in NY, MN, ND, or CO.
