Keep it plugged into a Battery Tender, when not in use.
I keep mine plugged in all year around.

Depends on the battery type. Some won't put up with it. I don't have all the details in my head - I have that issue now with mine. I plug it into the minder, and it flashed red/green/red/green at me. New battery, although I will admit I haven't tested it.

Try charging from a standard trickle charger, so the smart from the smart charger doesn't try to take over. I've recovered batteries this way, before.

I think I saw this as the way to charge a new battery, before using a smart charger.

Ask at batterystuff.com, to be sure.

I am confused about this '02 ST1300. I did not know there was an ST1300 in 2002.

Europe had a 02 the U.S. did not.
Early adopters in the U.S. had 03 models arrive on their beach in late November for STD models early December for ABS models of 2002.

I picked up mine Dec 4 2002.
Early adopters were delivered the best, fastest, and the only ones with black wheels. Far Superior to any ST built since.
All bow to the early adopters they reign supreme.

Some Canadian like me did get them earlier .I ordered my ST 1300 A sometime in February 2002, and we where suppose to receive them in June or July of that same Year . But, because of some recalls , big red had to do at the factory , they where delayed . I finally received my 2003 on October 31 2002 . . . I do remember the date and that Day perfectly because we had received 4 inch of snow on that Day .First ride was not until April 2003 .

Okay. I know I'm about to jinx myself but here goes anyway...

I am still running the original battery put into service when the bike(2005) was purchased as a new two year carryover in 2007. I have had a Battery Tender attached to it whenever it is at home. I just rolled over 33K the other day during a trip to B.C. I know I'm courting trouble but now I'm curious to see just how long it will last.
