Default New 2005 ST1300

All,

I am the proud owner of a sweet maroon (best color ever!) 2005 with ~39K on the odo. I am a fairly experienced rider, last bike having been a BMW 1150 RT-P. I figured that if the police officer could ride around on it all day, it must not be that bad...I was right...fantastic bike. However a chain tensioner and guide failure sidelined me for quite some time. That bike will be sold as-is, but I knew I was a sport-tourer guy for life. I had been eyeing both the Concours and the ST, and I think either would have been good choices. That said, the ST1300 is also a go-to bike for law enforcement. I am very happy with my decision. I just added a Givi Maxima Monokey case on the back that holds two full-size helmets, or perhaps more importantly, three growlers.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I am handy but I am no mechanic . I am just getting to know the bike better, and the previous owner gave me the official telephone book service manual. I'm saying this as advance warning for what will likely be many questions about stuff that will clearly point out that I am an ST1300 newb. Be patient with me!

Now, let me say that I already have experience and contact with Joe Zulaski and Roy Fletcher, both of whom were so helpful to this newb as he sought out the incredible dash shelf whose design and production these fine gentleman are responsible for. I searched high and low for the best option for my "stuff" and I am convinced that this is it. I was ecstatic when I heard from Roy that he is producing another batch, and I am happy to say that I am first in-line. Roy's and Joe's responsiveness and earnest desire to help reminded me of the community that these forums create. Thank you for having me! Jim Carroll

Welcome... I am a new to the ST1300 group myself and like the bike a lot so far. My last sporty bike was a naked street type ZRX1100. I also still own and ride a Harley FXDC Dyna Super Glide Custom. I love the Harley for solo riding but it does not work for me and the wife riding together. When I found the new to me 2012 ST1300 w/2100 miles on it and took it for a test ride with her on back it was a done deal pretty much. My wife said she loved it and just three weeks prior I tested some BMW bikes with her on back.

Close enough to plan a get together for lunch some day, maybe Culpeper or Orange or Sperryville or Luray or Skyland or ... assuming you're interested.
