Long time Shoei user myself, but I returned the first modular they sent me several years back due to fit.

One point regarding fit that many are not aware of, and the manufacturers reps don't train retailers on: The chin bar press test. A properly fitting full face or modular should fit so that it can not easily make contact with your chin when you press it toward your face as hard as you can.

The Neotec and latest Shuberth are the only modular that I have tried that have passed this fit test on my head, to my liking. YMMV.

I was surprised, pleasantly surprised, to find the Multitec is a roomier helmet than my Syncrotec. Setting the two side by side of front to back you can see the Multitec is a larger (wider) shell particular in the face cover area. Chin room front to back seems to be slightly more.
Road tested on the sofa due to impending darkness, cold temperatures, and dinner.
I may order up a larger (thicker) set of cheek pads and tighten up my newly found roominess.

Of the many helmets I have had over the years, my (white) Multitech is my all time favourite. It is very comfortable and remains a snug fit. It has had a lot of use and the front has been flipped up and down countless times. Nothing has broken.
Unlike the person who was throwing snowballs at me at the top of the Timmelsjoch - he was about to get his fingers broken - I hate snow!

It has occurred to me that the reason the Multitec is on close-out is because Shoei is about to discontinue the Multitec line.
Some spares might be in order.

http://www.shoei-helmets.com/

Shoei retails some spare parts from this site, upper right Store tab.

Their prices match and in some case beat Motorcyclegear.com, shields are $1.50 cheaper, the Spectra shields are $6 cheaper.
They carry replacement parts also.
Cheek Pad sets 35mm is stock they carry up to 41mm by two mm in case you need to tighten up your lid. $32.00
Chin Strap cover set. $15.70
Window Beading, it keeps the pesky rain out. $7.50.

They also have the owners manual in pdf format, you know you have one but you have no idea where it is. The manual tells you how to adjust the pivots etc. to seal the new shield you just put on.

Handy site for Shoei owners.

If you want one I would not wait to long.
Shoei keeps very tight control on their pricing.
About a decade ago Shoei decided to take control of their pricing schedules. Retailers were given a very small range where they could price the helmets. If you did not agree to Shoei's terms you lost the right to sell Shoei helmets. Both Parts Unlimited & Tucker/Rocky, the two biggest motorcycle accessory discounters, did not agree and Shoei helmets were pulled.
Your going to find Shoei prices are pretty much the same from all the retailers. Anyone more than a $10-15 higher usually involves free freight.

Waiting for a Shoei helmet to drop in price is like waiting for a wife to admit she was wrong. It is a long and fruitless wait. Either you want it or you do not.

If they want my money theyre going to have to meet my price!

Suckers!

What self respecting motorcyclist for whom money is no object is going to buy obsolete technology anyways? I doubt those helmets are good enough for todays sophistcated motorcycle clientel and when they dont sell I will make my move.

So, you are saying that you are not sophisticated motorcycle clientele?
