Happily (for me) that worked to my advantage because it gave me time to do research and to understand just how exactly this was the bike I have always envisioned myself riding.

Red- if ever you have the opportunity to meet the buyer I'd encourage it. The OO of my bike "happened" to come by the shop on the day I was picking it up (since it was being sold on consignment he may have been alerted that it was time to come pick up his cash) and we had a few moments to chat. I really appreciated the chance to meet him.

Now to try to wear it out.

Yes its kind of like keeping tabs on your ex with her new boyfriend.

Also posssibly this might result in being allowed to go out for a spin once in a while.

Going out for a spin ? Is she really still attractive once she has been ridden by another guy ?

Red,
Sorry to hear about your crash, this is the first I have been on here in a while I was out of the country/internet for the last month. Good to hear that you weren't seriously injured you are healing up and the bike will be good as new soon.

Wow! I don't visit for a few weeks and not only do I read my buddy has bought a new bike, but he drops it already.
Really glad to hear you are doing ok, we still haven't gone for that ride together yet.
Keep your old plastic if it isn't broken. I used body putty to fix up scratches like yours on a Blackbird that I had bought. The black paint was pretty easy to match, yours may be tougher. Then you can slap that old stuff back on when you do a track day.
Heal quick, and don't hiccup in the meantime. It really hurts.

The replacement parts finally came in and I dropped it off at the dealership yesterday morning. I may have to wait till after Christmas, they are installing winches on 4 wheelers for Christmas and don't have time for much else.

I am not hurting nearly as bad now, just certain things aggravate the ribs now.
