That was pre-gps days. Still nice for a quick reference as to what direction I'm headed.

I have the exact same one but in a different location and still use it often . . . http://www.st1300.us.com/album.php?a...&pictureid=258

I learned too many times that GPS are not to be trusted in some region . . . don't ask me why

Several years ago we were riding from Fontana Village,NC up to Deal's Gap. My GPS lost its bearings in the heavy trees along the road. I noticed the map showing me out in the middle of the lake, which luckily I wasn't. It also indicated my speed increasing to unimaginable speeds.
Later in the day we stopped at a convenience store and a local cop walked over to chat. He saw the GPS and was asking about it so I was going through the different features when the 'maximum speed' screen showed 212mph. He looked at me and I had to explain why. I told him "Even if I could, no way would I".

Thanks Mike! I do love that color. Especially when it's clean.

Have a great ride, be safe, take pics, come back and share with us. Please.

Day 1 is in the books. The wind was brutal to say the least. From the south @ 25mph with over 35mph gusts. I thought once we turned west at Omaha it would be better but it just got worse. The gusts would jerk my head sideways and lift my helmet. I tried different windshield heights, tucking in behind helped a little. My wrists were getting sore from hanging on.

The RR needed gas about every 150mi. My mileage dropped to 38mpg avg. We rode 564mi. to North Platte with a 71.1mph moving and 51.1 overall avg. Max speed was 91.

Heck no. That's a GPS, the analog type.

Much nicer day for a ride. 41degF to start and warmed into the 50. By Denver it hit 65.
A little snow in the mountains now and the aspen were glorious.
