Mike I am glad you finally got to ride that road. I would love to get back out there so I can ride it instead of driving it. I am certain you had more fun on your bike than I had in my 2500 HD 4WD Diesel.

Had a great time, even with the snow. Had a good trip home until this happened.

Sucks if this is on the road, but it's really only a $20 fix, from most boat/trailer shops. You do have to have the tools handy, though. That can prove difficult on the Interstate sometimes.

I'm sure there's an ST owner somewhere close who could lend a hand. This looks like it was on a sidewalk or something.

It happened when I went over a bridge on a county road just 10mi. from home. I'm (and my wife) happy that was the only thing that came home broken. Those guys down there rode those curvy roads hard!
The trailer really bounced when I hit the sharp transition and then I heard the rattle. Seeing that the tire wasn't rubbing on anything, I just limped home. I've already got it fixed.

Since I haven't added anything to this one for awhile there is a ride brewing.

Jack, my 73yr-old buddy is thinking next summer may be the last time he will be able to do a long off-road ride. One that he has been looking at is called Forever West and covers about 2,800mi. in 5 states. It doesn't look too challenging but has some long desolate days with minimal gas locations.

I'll have to think long & hard about whether to ride the DR650 or look for something else. I realize if I start shopping for an adventure bike the DR & VFR would both have to go first.

I'd offer to buy the DR for $200 except that I am now flat broke.

If it makes you feel any better (or worse) I am leaving Wednesday for another Out West trip. Dear Old Dad turned 70 in August and he will be riding his FJR from the swamps of South Louisiana thru Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. About 2 weeks of goodness with extra time spent in Utah's finest scenery.

After a record setting 106 consecutive days of 90 and above yesterday the heat is finally starting to break it's grip BUT your not going to like what broke it.
You know the gear have it handy.

I spent about $300 on my son's '07 XR650 last spring to get it ready to sell since he never rides it. Guess what, it is still sitting in his garage unsold and unridden (I don't think that is a legal word).
For awhile a guy was interested in my DR but has since decided his F800GS would be fine. Most of that was my fault since I took him up north for a trail ride in October. Otherwise I was thinking the XR, being 2.5" taller and a better suspension, would be a good fit for me. Oh well, I also ran across a Tiger XC that is a bargain.
