Default Sears - Gone in -2-3-4

Step one is done.
Stanley-Black & Decker bought Craftsman.
$525 Million cash on closing of the deal, $250 Million at the end of the third year, and a Percent of sales for the next 15 years.
Total value of the deal is estimated to be about $900 Million.

Also announced was the expansion of Sears/Kmart store closings. A additional 150 will be closing.
Gone is that big money sucker at the end of the Mall.

Kenmore, DieHard and Home Services are for sale ending the once iconic American retailer.

Sears has big name company in it demise.
Macy's announced closures and layoffs, JCPenney and Nordstrom are seriously wounded. JCP stock is selling for $6.75 a share, ouch!.

Stanley's plan is is expand it's U.S. production, build a new plant, to produce the Craftsman line of it tool empire.
Stanley owns Black & Decker & DeWalt and still manufactures under the Stanley brand.Part of the expansion plan is also expanding sales to "outside Sears/Kmart".
Currently only 10% of Craftsman tools are sold at other then Sears/Kmart.

U.S. produced. Not even Snap-On can make that claim.

My Ace Hardware sells Craftsman.

They also sell motoroil on sale for $2 a quart once or twice a year. I look for the sale and get a couple cases.

The Craftsman lifetime warranty always was on select product has been gone for quite some time.
It demise can in stages, repair not replace ratchets for example, and even that left the building over a decade ago.

A lot like "Satisfaction Guaranteed or your money back" and "Sears-Where America Shops" marketing slogans that once were accurate and maintained Lifetime Warranty is a thing of the past, as is Sears.

I call it The Walmart SyndromeŠ
Walmart has shown the worlds manufactures that Americans will buy a bag of cat shit as long as it's priced right.
Quality is no longer considered in purchase decisions.

"Where America Shops" has been appropriated or outright stolen by Amazon.

What Craftsman tools have you brought back because they broke?

I brought three half inch drive breaker bars back in one day. Twisted the drive nub right off. I used a three foot pipe on it.

All of these companies problems have a single common "issue".
Demographics.
They failed to keep up with changes in the market.

One can not confuse political rhetoric with market changes.
Politics has nothing to do with it and in no way, shape, or form can it change it.

No warranty covers stupidity, doesn't matter who built it or where it was built.
