Default My first SS1000 was a success!

The short story is that I started the clock at 4:04am Saturday based on my first fuel receipt and I stopped it 1,083 miles later at the same station at 12:14am Sunday. So after 20 hours and 10 minutes I had traveled 1,083 miles, made 9 fuel stops (lots of corners to prove on my route), ate lunch with family in Omaha, NE, visited with my son in Warrensburg, MO, ate 2 Cliff bars, drank my Camelback dry twice and generally smiled most of the way.
I will write up a more detailed report shortly. What I can say is that the ST is made for this type of day. I never felt my seat being uncomfortable but extensive miles each week on a bicycle may help there. I can see why people like the bar risers to eliminate a bit of the lean but it did not cause un-comfort. And a place to stretch out your legs would be nice as well.
All in all the day was great with temps in the low 70's and cloudless skies. My first thought upon completion was that I would do more of these. I never felt like it was a waste of time, tires or gas. The BMW group I ride with rides 200 to 300 miles each Saturday to get food somewhere. I figure I just did three weeks of riding in one day.
Thanks for all of the tips and advice over the past couple of weeks. Now I just have to assemble receipts, log, map and notes to get it all submitted.

Congrats on your ride. I am thinking of doing one myself. Your info will be helpful in future plans. I have ridden many 700 to 750 miles one day rides but never a 1000 . It is not as easy as one might think. Good job.

Nest step: BB Gold. 1500 miles, 24 hours. It, too, can be done.
