I did this too. Pleased you got it out. It might be an idea to take a couple of pics to add here, I wish I had because its much easier to explain with pics than words.

Strange how you remember stuff afterwards, I had a real problem with the bottom bolt, rounded the head then had to try drilling it out, maybe that's why I needed more room at the front. My tale was here.

Ok, basically done, and it runs and it charges.

They checked the regulator and rectifier and both were good. When they checked the windings on the rotor, there was no continuity so there was a break in the line. They rewound the rotor and it is working. $350.00.

Noooow...I forgot where this goes and what it is for?

Outdoor air temp sensor?

Mounts to fairing somewhere?
