I use the kickstand switch to kill the bike and stand next to it while fueling, still on the kickstand.

It's too risky sitting next to pouring fuel over a hot engine. Gasoline is nasty stuff.

When I was younger and on trips I used the centerstand to fill the tank so I could get as much gas as possible in the tank.

But when I got older and couldnt easily get off and on the bike, much less get it on the centerstand, I just sat on the bike, grabbed the nozzle and filled it up while sitting on the saddle. Risky Business but so is the two piece tank with the rubber hose connecting them on the ST13.

How is the rubber hose connecting the top and bottom tanks any more risky than the rubber hose connecting the tank to the the carb/fuel rail?

Rubber hoses, any type connecting any item, require replacement from time to time.

Your suggestion for connection would be what?

The hose can be stressed by raising and lowering the tank improperly (which cant happen on most motorcycles....or an ST11)) and by age. AT least theres a shut off valve on most carbed engines. If it lets go five gallons of gas will go all over a possibly hot engine without any possibility of stopping it. If theres a spark....

WHile knowledgeable people such as ourselves know about the situation, and would keep an eye on the hose and follow instructions about raising the tank, someone new to the bike would not know about it. Also having worked as a mechanic, some people dont maintain their vehicles properly. Im talking shocking mechanical condition. As these bikes age, the possibilities of a hose going bad only increase.

BTW the same is true of the linked braking system.

My suggestion to prevent problems is LISTEN TO echo!

I don't want anyone to get hurt. If they don't understand the importance of keeping an eye on that hose that's a distinct possibility.

Your distress, while unfortunate, is secondary.

Your distress, while unfortunate, is secondary.
Simply put your claim of concern, like your claim of offering information to new owners, your "Innocent Act", your disinformation/misinformation/outright lies, is just more of your Bull Shit.
YOU are the problem.

You have no knowledge of the subject, any subject, but you continue on.
YOU are the problem.

It can be successfully argued you took complete and total advantaged of Joe's reluctance to ban your account to spread your Bull Shit far and wide making YOU in large part the reason for and cause of the demise of this site.
Owners of a discontinued model, irregardless of what model from whatever manufacture, are seeking accurate information to keep them alive and in reliable running order.
YOU have deprived them of a source, a damn good source, of that information.
YOU are their problem.

One bright note is the good, reliability accurate information will be saved and moved to a site that will not tolerate YOU or your Bull Shit.
I'll predict if you move to the new site you're account will have a lifespan of under 24 hours before it is banished to the trash can it so richly deserves.
YOU will not make it on ST-Riders.
They will not allow a Troll to steal a valuable resource.
YOU are a Troll.
YOU are the problem.

It sure will be nice to not have to put up with your Bull Shit any more.

Say goodnight Echo.
The countdown clock on your badly needed demise has started.

As is your norm once again you fail to address the issue and attempt to change the subject.

Your standard Trolling method.
Your Trolling killed the site.
