Default Ron Smith/Roy Fletcher Dash Shelf installation instructions

Here are the installation instructions that I wrote when Ron, Roy, and I designed and built the first of our Dash shelves.

I've updated it a bit to keep up with Roy's changes and also switched to a .PDF file format.

The main change Roy made was to do away with metal tube spacers under the dash shelf and use plastic tube spacers instead. This protects the stock plastic dash more and it requires less welding.

Thanks for the well-written directions! I removed my windshield and started the installation, but as is usually my luck, the innards of my ST don't match what's in the photos. I suspect it is because I have an 03 with the non-adjustable windshield. The important part is that there is nothing for the support plate to attach to at the ends.

I will go ahead and install the plate, it should at least provide some internal stiffening without the ends attached.

I think I would post in the Wanted section that I was looking for the windshield bracketry off the later models that someone has replaced because the motor/gear drive went bad.
Somewhere, someplace, someone has one laying about taking up space.
Pull the motor/gear drive off and install the bracket.
Might be worth a posting to see if one is out and about.

Is the dash shelf still available?

Yes, the dash shelf was designed to bolt to the movable windshield brackets on either side.

I am not sure. You would have to contact Roy Fletcher to see whether he still has any. His number is: 206-409-6048.
