What a difference a day makes.

Here on the west side of Houston, flood water is receding and roads are clearing. North and east are still getting hammered by over bank creeks continuing to rise. Rain still a problem to the east.

Looks like Redfish is starting to feel Harvey's punch. Hopefully much of it's energy is spent and won't cause as much flooding over his way.

Just did the first exploratory drive around the area. Most nearby roads are now clear although there are streets where there are abandoned/flooded cars in the middle of streets that I had to drive around. It was good to get the hell out of the house. Serious cabin fever was setting in.

I am VERY happy to say that none of my cars took on any water. Raising them to keep the water away probably saved me an insurance hassle. The Civic was the one most in danger:

Water in the pic had gone down some when the photo was made. The gold BMW took on water at the height of the flood:

That is wonderful to see Mick. I am very pleased that you came through unscathed.

Redfish is high and dry, I can assure you.

I would not worry about the gold BMW. The owner would do well to upgrade to something better like a... Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. Anything is an upgrade from those unreliable POS.

Hope the worst is over for you.

The shots of the Houston airport were chilling. Only the planes tails were visible.

Holy crap how could the authorities let that happen to those planes! I saw pictures of patients in the nursing home sitting in 2 foot deep Water in chairs. My mom is in a nursing home in Houston and bedridden. That could've been her but fortunately her place didn't flood. There would've been nothing my brother could've done about it. What a tragedy for those involved!

The aftermath... the cleanup begins.

Picture taken in a lower elevation section of my community here in Houston. House after house along entire blocks were totally trashed. Soggy rugs, flooring, drywall, furniture, clothes, etc., all worthless now and put to the curb.

It was very difficult driving down some of these streets because of all the recovery service vehicles, and private pickup trucks parked on both sides of the roads.

When I say that I was extremely lucky to have not taken on any water, it's a huge understatement.

My brother went outside to survey to survey the damage to his neighborhood and was promptly attack ED by cloud of bloodthirsty mosquitoes and to hightail it back to his house.
