That is the case for aircraft lighting. That's also why you don't write in red on your maps because in the red light, red lines vanish.
I also hate the overly bright (in my opinion, too) high beam indicators. On my ST, I took apart that part of the dash and double side taped a dark transparency over the blue lens to dim it down to an unobtrusive level.

I just wish that I could see the amber LED's, while wearing my sunglasses.

Ah but do you really need to?

Temperature gauge will show three bars.

Total odo doesn't matter on a regular basis- it is what it is.

Trip odos can be reset too easily- or forgotten- so they're not a reliable backup to the gas gauge.

When engine quits you know it's time to stop for gas.

There- problem solved. Feel better now?

I like to be able to at least, read the clock.
I added a clock to the right hand bar, so I can see it.
The battery quit the day that I went on my trip, last year.

That's the beauty of the LCD reversal I had done. The readout letters are no longer Amber and can easily be read in any light.

The guys who are saying negative things about the blue are just plain wrong.
I like it so much that if I had an airplane I'd be switching to blue somehow

The amber in the right side info panel is what I have difficulty seeing.
