Default Is Windows 10 ready for Prime Time?

My Dell has reach the old and decrepit stage in it 12 year life.
Read a bit of comments over the weekend on Windows 10 and got the impression it does not play well with older software, Office 2007, or much else.

Is Win 10 stable?

I'm wondering if I'm going to replace software why not replace the operating system with OS-X and take a bite out of an Apple.

Read same about Office 2007 so was using OpenOffice on my new Win 10 desktop which is good enough for my needs. But then gave Office 2007 a try just by curiosity....and it is running just fine!

Personally, I will stick with Windows.

Maybe someone can tell you how to make Office older versions work, in compatibility mode.

I wiped and performed a fresh load on all my systems. Win10 on all, Office 2003, 2007 and 2010, many older applications, and they all work just fine. I see no reason Office 2007 won't work - every other version does.

I've been running Windows 10 with Office 2007 for over a year now. No issues. I also read about people having issues with Windows 10 and Office 2007.

Wish could have done same, but older hardware was not Win 10 compatible.

Mine has migrated from older to OLD hardware.
4GB memory max has been on that limit for a decade.

I can get a Lenova with AMD A10 Processor 12GB Memory and a 2TB drive for $400 wireless keys and rat Win 10 on-board.
It may find itself next to the Dell.

Paul, I'm running Win 10, 64 bit and I use MS Office 2007. It has never given me any problems.

I don't have Win 10 yet, I'm still in research mode.

To go along with actual factual hands on knowledge of the ST this site has more than a few computer wizards, I thought actual experience with Win 10 might be helpful before I replace my old Dell Win 7 Ultimate Edition.
I need new hardware more than anything else.

I have been reading about software compatibility issues in Win 10 and the question for me was if I'm going to need to learn a new operating system and it's going to require major software upgrades why not get out of the Microsoft OP and join the cult like Apple users.

It's not as much about the software as it is the manuals to use the damn stuff.
To go along with the several Win 7/Office 7 manuals I have there is a shelf full of Photoshop manuals to operate Elements 7, the software is cheaper than the manuals.

I'm considering getting Win 10 now and keeping both systems usable.
Learn Win 10 and transfer what I can but for anything that Win 10 does not play well with I still have a functioning Win 7.
Upgrade the software as needed when newer stuff is released that I can actually use or need.
