Default Polaris to Shutdown Victory Motorcycles

Polaris has announced it will cease production of Victory Motorcycles.

This pretty much tells it all.

Sad to see this happen as Victory had the highest reliability rating among American cruisers according to a survey I saw a couple of years ago (JD Powers ??). This survey placed it pretty close to Japanese reliability. I'm not a cruiser person but with the exception of the Vision, I always thought Victory motorcycles were good looking machines.

I think you refer to the Consumer Reports survey of motorcycle owners. Victory (Polaris) came in right behind and pretty close to the big 4 Japanese brands and very close to Kawasaki. There was then a much larger gap down to Harley. The worst manufacturer was BMW - no surprise there. I don't count CanAm, who came in worse than BMW, because they don't really make motorcycles.

I think when this survey was done there were too few Indians on the road to get any statistics about them, but as they are also made by Polaris, perhaps with even more attention to detail, maybe they'll score as well Victory. Personally if I were interested in a cruiser, I'd lean toward the Indians over the Harleys. Hopefully better reliability and less "image baggage" than Harley.
