Default Dyed Russell Seats turned out GREAT!

I have been planning on dying my light gray, leather Russell Seats to a black color for months now and the impending sale of my ST1300 accelerated my procrastinating ways. ;-)

So, last week, I finally dyed them with a product called, "Leatherique". It's a four step process where first I apply a Leather re-conditioner, then a Leather cleaner, then a color preparation, and finally the dye itself.

The first two steps I did in one day. The color prep took another day (just to make sure). The dying took an hour to apply and rub into the pores of the leather and then 48 hours to "cure". I waited over the weekend and let it "cure" for four or five days. Then, I took a rough towel and rubbed it down firmly.

It turned out great. Mario, the new owner, will be very pleased. Now, I just need to fix the cruise control (waiting on a part) and the TireAlert system (need to initiate) and it will be ready.

Here are some pics for comparison purposes plus a picture of the Leatherique bottles.

Nothing but my Rokon out on the dirt. I might get another Yamaha TW200 later (dualsport) but, I'm not sure about that.

I no longer ride on the streets (or at least not very often - maybe once a year if that) due to my health so, it seems silly to keep the bike and pay the insurance and besides, my friend Mario needed a bike this month.

It's a Win-Win for both of us.

I keep my insurance on non-riding status, minimum rates, until I want to ride, then I turn up the protection status. Much cheaper that way.
