Thanks guys. I'm not familiar with the rider.

But, if he was saying that he didn't remember what happened or what caused it, my guess as to the most likely cause wouldn't be the high speed weave. It would be fatigue.

I've ridden in the event and know how tired one can get. I pulled over many times to avoid nodding off.

Even the best IBR rider that I know, Gary Eagan, has driven off the shoulder of a road. That was caused by looking down at his GPS for too long.

So, things can happen even to the best riders.

I don't think it was the high speed weave. As someone else has stated, it is very manageable and all one has to do is lightly tap the rear brake to slow back down and it goes away. Nothing to panic about.

I think it was either fatigue or inattention or a combination of both. That would explain why he couldn't remember. Of course, if he hit his head in the get-off, that could also explain why he couldn't remember.

But, that is just my guess.

A worn out rear shock with a IBR load on Interstate 10 outside of Deming he was lucky to be able to tell the tail.
Interstate 10 has a history of in the meridian accidents in this area.
This is not what you would call the road less traveled. It is our southern most Interstate and this section sees more closures due to dust storms than all other events combined.
The meridian is dirt and unforgiving to those that wander in.

I honestly am not sure if this falls under the "Weave" issue but I know that when a rider of that skill level and reputation crashes a bike on a straight road and does not know why, it is a cause of concern. I don't know the man personally but his reputation and the respect given him by others tells me he is the real deal. dduelin, that is yet another reason I envy you, a friendship with someone like that is something to be proud of.

"A bit lazy". Me? Well, that is quite possibly accurate. The man crashed for reasons he cannot understand, I felt it was worth mentioning.

Since I find myself apparently going head to head with two members I truly admire and respect, I am really trying to be reasonable and nice here. So, please ask yourselves why you are both so defensive. Do remember that I love this bike as much as either of you. I just do not get to ride it nearly as much.
Please understand that my lazy comment was not directed at anyone in particular. Others have blamed the pan weave for this incident too.

Jeff, it's okay if you think I'm lazy. I am really. In fact I had a co-worker comment on that very flaw not 2 minutes ago.

As long as you and I are not actually mad at one another, it's all good.
