Default Dropped the ST

I must be a type III learner, because not too long ago I did the same thing with my 1500 Wing. I was looking at the ST on its side stand and decided it would look be better on the center stand. So wearing soft bottomed slippers I pressed down on the lever and yanked up on the handle. My foot slipped off and somehow the bike tipped away from me and gently laid on its side. The tanks were full of gas so I was surprised that the ST is about as heavy to lift as the Wing. No harm done, except to my ego.

OOOOps! No harm, no foul. Don't try this with an RT, FJR or Concours.

I've dropped my 07 once, right after filling up with gas. I had a hold of the left grip with one hand after bringing it down off the center stand, got distracted , and it went over, falling away from me. I had to ask a stranger to help me lift it after a couple attempts to lift it by myself. While it was getting away from me my grip was reduced to the middle finger of my left hand, and it pulled a tendon or something in that finger because it was sore for a couple of weeks.

I now only use the center stand when I won't be riding for a while, and always focus carefully on the process of using the center stand.

BTW, no damaged occurred other than slight scarring of the right tip-over bumper.

Been there done that! BTW I use the passenger grab bar rather than the 'official' lifting bar which lets me get my body weight further back and, for me, makes it easier to lift the bike. I put it on the center stand after every ride so I can check the tires for nails etc. Unfortunately I seem to have a unique skill in collecting these nasty little things.

Done it twice to mine. Once at a gas station as I was dismounting. Forgot about all the camping gear on the back seat and snagged my foot just long enough for the weight to get too far left - BOOM! I used to dismount while balancing the bike and go directly to the centerstand. I don't do that anymore.

The other time right on my driveway, could have sworn I'd put the stand down.....

Tip over wings are a great invention!

Dropped my '03, not 10 minutes after I picked it up from the dealer. AARGH!

It fell away from me when my foot slipped off the center stand. My brother was standing at the other side of the bike, not 1ft away, but he could not prevent from hitting the ground.

This was one day after having made fun of my boss to his face when he told me he dropped his St1100 a few times....

It's all part of the ST ownership experience for folks moving up from "normal" weight motorcycles!

I got my ST1300 after the then 'owner from new' dropped it three times, on both sides, during his first trip to Spain. As soon as he got back he traded it for a low slung Harley and I picked the ST up a couple of weeks later - a nearly new motorcycle with a few cosmetic scratches. 32k miles later I have yet to drop it (touch wood, cross fingers, run three times round a gypsy etc.) I know I will drop it at some point but I don't spend time worrying about whether TODAY is the day! ;-)

I feel most in fear, most scared sh*tless, like something really BAD is about to happen....

When I grab the bars and attempt to push my ST into the garage instead of starting it and driving it in.

It is a HORRIBLE feeling!
