Default Right front rotor a lot hotter.

So having put some new pads in the front of the ST1300 I noticed the front right pads were more worn than the left side, I was a little unsure if the pistons were as free as they might be so decided to change the seals in both calipers at the same time in case.
Noticing the two bigger pistons on the right caliper I wondered if anyone knows if there is more braking done with the right rotor, when I get off the bike the right is considerably hotter than the left. Is this normal?
Mostly, I ride fairly spiritedly and hardly touch the rear brake.
